I recently got scammed on discord recently (05/01/2021) and I’m sorry I haven’t posted this sooner. I been trying to make my way around warning folks, if you get a discord message by Oogiesgirl207#0434 that isn’t me anymore that is now a scam bot unfriend it and remove it from any servers your are in with it. Please I don’t want folks to get screwed over like it did.
I was scammed by the means of a person I didn’t chat with in a while message me they asked for my attention and then proceeded to tell me that they accidentally reported me on steam the report was a market fraud they said.
They proceed to send me to another discord user by the name Solo#8808 (though at this point he might have change his numbers) he acted as a steam manager by the name Matthew Ann and hacked into my steam, locking it, making it look like a official thing then saying theres a insurance need to with verifying my account by sending him crypto currency.
I foolishly gave him up to 2000$ before my bank limit hit and stop any more money going though. At one point my gut feeling occurred and tried reported steam itself but he manage to talk me outta of it. Afterward he said there was a 2nd way to verify my account by giving him my discord and I being the fool that I am did so it was then my common sense kicked in and the realization of what happened hit me and now Im here trying to clean up my mess I gotten myself into.
I got my steam back but the money is still gone and my discord is lost due to TOS rules saying since I handed over the info even though I was scammed its still falls onto me and they can’t do anything about it.
At the moment I’m going be going to my credit union to switch accounts to be safe I may already disabled my card but I want to make sure to be extra safe.
Update: I changed my bank accounts and put in a fraud claim in hopes to get the money back. I manage to have discord actually start looking into my old account after summiting a 2nd form with screenshots pointing out their using my account to scam folks. At this point in at the waiting game part of this problem where I need to hear back before continuing moving forward.
If you happen to get into contact with my old account (Oogiesgirl207#0434) and get far with talking to them then pleace summit a claim for the scam and make sure you have screenshots to prove yourself.
